Comin' atcha with the tail-end of 2023 dice rage, its your main man with his hot take on what's going rolled in 2024. Now with GBHL events booked for January, here's a rundown of the hot shit that will be bending you over a table early next year:


6th-7th January - Bangor, NI.

Kicking off 2024 is a two-day, GBHL90 event in Bangor, Norn Iron. Thats right. A winter break in one of the few places colder and wetter than mainland England. A 715 point event to which I will be taking The Rangers Of Mirkwood. 

  • Legolas with Elven cloak, leading 6 rangers and 3 sentinels
  • Tauriel, leading 5 rangers and 3 sentinels
  • A captain, leading 5 rangers and 3 sentinels
Thats right, nine mightly sentinels. Im printing some Dandelion In Middle Earth sculpts for the sentinels. I was partly tempted by a full army of them, but I need to paint rangers for the next event in January anyway. The plan is to use the sentinels to clear a path and lure out any banners, Suladans, or Witch Kings, then give them the benefit of all those elven bows. Then, when my enemy folds the fuck up, tits-out Tauriel will bring the pain. There are some event quirks, one of which is we get a bonus character. No pics of mine, but it is strongly based on the Gollums Gamers youtube channel. Some extra rules in the pack which I havent and wont read. There will be drinking.


27th January - Hull

Heading down the road to "neener neener land" for a GBHL80. I'll be daring to cross the bridge even if there is sner on the rerd. These Hollovians wont know what has hit them this time, with the second outing of the Rangers Of Mirkwood.

  • Legolas with Elven cloak, leading 8 rangers and 2 sentinels
  • Tauriel, leading 7 rangers and 2 sentinels. 
Taking a list which has been described as "filth", the plan mainly revolves around bribing the TO to plaster the tables with woodland terrain; avoiding any bellends who bring the Necronmaster LL; drinking beer and having a curry.


So there you go, a quick countdown of what early 2024 holds. I will begin with the traitorous Blue Dice - if they do badly, I will be destroying them in interesting ways that you can vote for. Nothing planned for Feb or March yet as Im dodging two day events in general. Might nip up to Glasgow for a one-dayer but will advise as time goes by.

Povos, Parmos, PJ & Duncan

Alreeet folk, This time, the toy soldiers have been "ooop norf" risking life and limb in a strange part of the world where we have to be on our guard against all things wrong about the north of England. To set the scene, I took the Smelves of Elrond up to a one-dayer in Middlesborough, which is somewhere I had only ever skirted around before. Lets consider some more about geography. Yorkshire. Yorkshire is simply the best county in England, and therefore the world. No-one is in any doubt about this, and if they are they get beatings. (Bad) Back Once Again With The MESBG Master

Alreet pets, This week, I have mostly been lying down with a hot water bottle. In the week that followed the highly skewed event that was Tis A Gathering, I have regained the ability to walk again. Its the sad marker that, as an old person who takes little care of himself, it shouldn't be surprising when vital structures like my spine fail. Still, my R4 opponent wont forget that game in a hurry.  Tis A Gathering is a GBHL80 event due to your being able to win without actually winning games. It adds the additional dimensions of "hobby" and "sportsmanship" - each of which are scored out of 20. This makes it fully 3D gaming, and it pleases me that you can win all, or 5, of your games but still rank quite lowly if you are a cunt. Several key moments for me (who only played Day 2 due to numbers) were: sweating my tits off on day 1 as we sweltered in the heat; three of us eating tapas for 4; and doing my back after about 15 minutes of playing toy soldiers.  The golden...
